Discover the Story in Every Stitch

My textile art is more than fabric and thread – it’s a journey of self-expression, storytelling, and creativity. Inspired by emotion, personal experiences, and the beauty of the world around me, each piece is designed to evoke feeling and connection.

From intricate free-motion embroidery to mixed-media fabric pieces, my work blends traditional techniques with contemporary artistry. Whether it’s a bespoke artwork, an expressive textile journal, or an experimental fabric composition, every creation is crafted with care and intention.

"HICAT"

To commemorate completing my Holistic Creative Therapy training, I created this textile art piece using 20 different techniques, each representing a unique aspect of creativity, healing, and self-expression. The quilt incorporates free-motion embroidery, appliqué, hand embroidery, patchwork, weaving, crochet, and fabric painting, blending both traditional and contemporary methods. I experimented with techniques like needle felting, fabric collage, and thread painting to add texture and depth. Some sections feature sashiko stitching for mindfulness, reverse appliqué for layered storytelling, and machine embroidery for intricate details. Each square tells a different story, symbolising growth, resilience, and the power of creative therapy. The result is a rich, tactile representation of my journey, where every stitch is a testament to the transformative nature of textile art.

Textile Stories: Stitching My Lived Experience of the Northern Ireland Conflict

In 2025, I am embarking on a deeply personal journey to explore and depict my lived experience of the Northern Ireland conflict through textile art. Using fabric, thread, and a variety of textile techniques, I aim to capture the emotions, memories, and untold narratives that have shaped my understanding of this complex history. This project is currently in its research and development stage, where I am gathering stories, experimenting with materials, and finding ways to translate the past into stitched expression.

As this journey unfolds, I invite you to follow my progress, gain insight into the creative process, and engage in conversations around art, memory, and healing. Connect with me on social media to be part of this evolving project and witness how textile art can tell powerful stories.
